Three Side Seal Pouch is a classic, versatile flexible packaging format where three sides (bottom, left, and right) are heat-sealed, leaving the top open for filling. This simple yet reliable design offers a large, unbroken front and back surface for maximum branding, making it ideal for a wide range of products from food and pharmaceuticals to industrial components and retail samples.
Three Side Seal Pouch — also known as 3-side seal pouch, pillow pouch, or fin seal pouch — is one of the most fundamental and widely used flexible packaging formats. As the name suggests, the pouch is formed by sealing three sides of a rectangular or square film cut, with the fourth side (top) intentionally left open for product insertion. After filling, the top is sealed as a final step, creating a fully enclosed, four-side sealed package.
How It Is Manufactured: Two layers of film (or a single folded sheet) are heat-sealed along the bottom edge, left vertical edge, and right vertical edge. The three seals form a "U" shape, creating an open-top pocket ready for filling. This design can be produced either as a pre-made pouch (for manual or semi-automatic filling) or inline on vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machines where the pouch is formed, filled, and sealed in one continuous process.
