Quad Seal Pouches — also known as four-side seal pouches, block bottom pouches, or square bottom pouches — are an advanced flexible packaging format that combines the self-standing ability of a standee pouch with the rigidity of a box. Unlike standard stand-up pouches (which have a single bottom gusset and two side seals), quad seal pouches are formed by creating four distinct vertical seals: one on the left, one on the right, one on the front panel, and one on the back panel. This construction results in a wide, rectangular, completely flat bottom that allows the pouch to stand upright with unmatched stability, even when filled with heavy, dense products.

How They Are Made: A flat film is folded and sealed at four points, creating a block-bottom structure that expands into a square or rectangular base when filled. The four seals distribute internal pressure evenly, eliminating the rounded or curved bottom seen in traditional standee pouches.

Key Advantages:

  • Maximum Stability: The wide flat bottom prevents tipping, even on uneven store shelves or vibrating conveyor belts.

  • Higher Capacity: Quad seal pouches can hold 1 kg to 25 kg of product, far exceeding standard stand-up pouches (typically limited to 5 kg).

  • Superior Branding: The flat front, back, and even side panels provide 360-degree printable surface area for branding, nutritional facts, and barcodes.

  • Pallet Efficiency: The square bottom and straight sides allow for tight, space-efficient pallet stacking — similar to rigid boxes but with flexible packaging's light weight.

  • Outstanding Barrier Protection: Multi-layer laminates (PET, metalized PET, foil, BOPP, LLDPE) provide high oxygen, moisture, and light barriers, often paired with degassing valves for fresh products.

Common Applications:

  • Food: Rice (5–25 kg), flour (1–10 kg), sugar, salt, pulses, rolled oats, protein powders, coffee beans (with valve), pet food (kibble up to 15 kg)

  • Non-Food: Detergent powder, cement mix, grout, fertilizer, animal feed, chemical powders, plastic pellets

  • Agricultural Seeds: Wheat, corn, soybean seeds requiring moisture protection

Optional Features: Degassing valve (for coffee/fermented products), tear notch or laser scoring for easy opening, transparent window for product visibility, hang hole, euro slot, reinforced handle cutout, and resealable zipper (though zipper is less common in quad seals due to heavy contents).

Comparison with Standard Standee Pouch:

Feature Standard Standee Pouch Quad Seal Pouch
Bottom Shape Rounded/curved Flat & rectangular
Stability Moderate Excellent (box-like)
Max Capacity ~5 kg ~25 kg
Pallet Stacking Moderate efficiency High efficiency
Printing Surface Front + back Front + back + sides
Cost Lower Higher (more material & seals)

Quad Seal Stand-Up Pouch: Standard quad seal with four vertical seals and flat bottom. Best for 1–10 kg dry foods like rice, flour, sugar, and pulses. Self-standing, no external support needed.

Quad Seal with Degassing Valve: Includes one-way degassing valve (typically on front panel). Essential for coffee, fermented foods, or any product releasing CO2. Prevents bulging while keeping oxygen out.

Quad Seal with Handle Cutout: Features a reinforced die-cut handle on the top seal or side gusset. Ideal for heavy products (10–25 kg) like pet food, animal feed, or fertilizer easy to carry.

Quad Seal Window Pouch: Includes a transparent window (clear patch) on front or back panel. Used for premium rice, lentils, or seeds where product visibility drives purchase decisions.

Giriraj Flexipack is always known for its specialties in the industry. In terms of quad seal pouches also, we are way ahead of others. With 5 automatic pouch making machines, we deliver unmatched precision, speed, and heavy-duty customization for quad seal pouches from our Delhi, India facility.

Our Specialties in Quad Seal Pouches:

  • True Flat Bottom Formation: Our automatic machines use precision heated forming blocks to create perfectly rectangular, flat bottoms — not rounded or uneven. Every quad seal pouch stands straight, even on glass shelves. Bottom width tolerance: ±1 mm.

  • High-Capacity Construction (Up to 25 kg): We use reinforced sealing bars and thick-gauge films (80–150 microns) with extra-strong side seals. Our quad seal pouches withstand drop tests from 1.5 meters when filled with 25 kg of product — no seam bursting.

  • Four-Seal Integrity System: Each pouch undergoes individual seal checks on all four vertical seals plus the bottom seal — that’s 5 seals tested per pouch. We use air burst, tensile strength, and hot tack testing to ensure zero leaks.

  • In-Line Valve & Handle Integration: Add degassing valves (for coffee/rice), die-cut handles, transparent windows, tear notches, and hang holes — all during pouch formation on the same automatic line. No secondary operations, no delays.

  • High-Speed Quad Seal Production: Despite the complex four-seal design, our machines produce up to 200 quad seal pouches per minute — among the fastest in Delhi NCR.

  • Rotogravure Printing Excellence: Up to 8 colors printing on front, back, and side panels. We use cylinder-based rotogravure for sharp, consistent graphics that survive high-moisture or frozen environments.
